OH MY ENGLISH

Hi guys, this time we came up with an interesting topic to you all. How are we going to improve and promote our English language? Well, we just thought up of some simple ways for anyone who is interested in improving their English. We were trying to improve in this language each day. There’s always so much to learn and it can be really fun. You just need to have the passion and enthusiasm to better yourself.
Most people would advise us to read anything and everything in English to improve our language. But, I hate to read books that bore me. So, I have my alternative ways to learn English in a fun way.
You can listen to English songs. Read the lyrics as you listen to the songs. Listen to your favourite songs and sing along to them. Even, watch English movies with subtitles. This would be my favourite way of learning English. Not only do I get to have a fun time watching the movie, I’d be learning new words at the same time and knowing how to pronounce them! Usually, you can get movies with English subtitles on DVDs.
You can start a blog in English. This is one way for you to practice your writing. Write a blog on something that you love. If you are a fan of movies, start a blog and write about your favourite movies, your favourite characters, what you think could be improved in the movie, and what new movies to expect next year. Besides blogging, try joining online forums, engage in online chatting.
Be best friends with a good English dictionary. You can use Oxford, Collins, Cambridge or any other dictionary. Buy a dictionary that you’re comfortable with and use it at all times. Keep it next to you when you’re reading. I always put my favourite Oxford dictionary by my side when I’m reading. So when I stumble upon a word I don’t know, I don’t have to get up and look around for it. It’s right there by my side. Thus, I have no excuse for not looking the word up.

Label things in your house or office with post-its. The easiest vocabulary to learn is the vocabulary of things you see and use everyday. If you can write the names of things around you on slips of paper and stick them on the real thing, this is a great way of learning useful vocabulary. If you can leave them there over the following days and weeks, this is a very easy way of revising the vocabulary until it is properly learnt. For people who can't put labels on real things, the next best option is to take a photo of a real place in your life like your office, print it out, and then draw lines to all of the things you can see in the picture and label them in English with the help of a dictionary. You can do the same thing with places you pass through everyday like the station. Because you will see the same thing again and again, it should be easy to really learn the words for those things.
Model your accent on one particular actor. For example try to speak like Owen Wilson or Arnold Schwarzenegger. Students who say they want to sound more like a native speaker have the problem that native speakers don't sound all that much like each other. Choosing one model can make the task of improving your pronunciation more clear, and is quite fun. Thus, doing an impression of that person also makes a good party trick.
Learn a new word a day. Keep your own vocabulary notebook and write a new word and its meaning in it every day. Refer to it as often as possible so that the new words will stick in your head.
Find a foreign boyfriend or girlfriend. No tips on how to do this here, but everyone agrees that getting or even just looking for a date in English can be a great motivator to improve your language skills.
Actually, there are many more ways for you to improve your English. Learn at your own pace. There’s no need to hurry when learning something especially a language. Make learning English fun. Don’t give up too soon or get discouraged. Don’t get stressed out when it becomes a little difficult. Good luck.
